How To Lead Someone To The Lord by Tyrone Singh

The Great Commission: Our Highest Calling

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
— Matthew 28:18-19

Just before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave us these powerful words—a mission, a commission. This wasn't a suggestion or a nice idea. It was a calling. The Great Commission is the heartbeat of every believer’s walk with Christ.

Jesus had just conquered death. He had finished the work of redemption. And now, He passed the baton to us: “Go.” Not just to the person next door (though they count too!), but to all nations. He entrusted us with the message that saves souls, the truth that changes eternities.

The Reason He Came

Jesus came to earth for one reason: to save mankind. He didn't come for fame, wealth, or political power. He came to restore what was broken between God and man. Our relationship with the Father had been shattered by sin since the days of Adam. But through Jesus, that separation was bridged by grace.

And if He gave His life so that we could be saved… shouldn’t we dedicate ours to making sure others know about it?

Sharing the Gift of Salvation

You don’t need to be a pastor to share the Gospel. You don’t need a theology degree. You just need a heart that says, “Yes, Lord—I will go.”

Here’s a simple path to help lead someone to salvation. Below are scriptures you can use as you guide someone toward a relationship with Jesus. Remember: the Holy Spirit does the work—we’re just the vessels.

Step-by-Step Scriptures for Salvation

  1. Romans 5:12 – The Reality of Sin
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”

We’re all born into sin. Not because of what we did, but because of where we came from. It’s not about being a “bad” person—it’s about being separated from God.

  2. John 3:16 – God’s Love
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God made a way—because He loved us first. Salvation is free. It’s a gift. Anyone can receive it.

  3. Ephesians 2:8-9 – Grace, Not Works
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

We can’t earn our way into Heaven. Our best deeds can’t match God's perfect holiness. That’s why He gave us Jesus.

  4. John 1:12 – Becoming Children of God
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

When we receive Jesus, we become part of God’s family. We’re no longer outsiders—we’re beloved children.

  5. Romans 10:9 – Confess and Believe
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

This is the moment everything changes: confession and belief. A new life begins.

The Prayer of Salvation

If someone is ready to receive Jesus, this prayer is a powerful starting point. Invite them to say it from the heart:

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus, Your Son who died for me. You raised Him from the dead for me. I accept Him as my Savior and confess Him as my Lord. I renounce the devil and all the host of hell. Therefore, I am a new creation alive unto You. I lift my hands and worship You. In the name of Jesus, amen.

You Are the Light

Every conversation, every encounter is a divine opportunity. You carry the light of Jesus, and the world needs it now more than ever. Someone out there is waiting for hope—you might be the one God uses to introduce them to the Savior.

Let’s walk boldly in our commission. Let’s share Jesus with love, truth, and urgency. Heaven rejoices over every soul that comes home. Let’s give them a reason to rejoice today.

Have you led someone to Christ recently? Or are you praying for someone who needs salvation?
